Office catering in Minneapolis: what to expect

Minneapolis office demand is lopsided right now. Cushman & Wakefield put downtown vacancy at 32.8% in the third quarter of 2026, while Northeast sat at 11.5%, the lowest of any submarket, and CBRE says the North Loop has the metro's highest Class A rents at $39.25 a foot. Downtown is coming back slowly, with the Downtown Council reporting in-person work at almost 75% of pre-pandemic levels in September 2025. The list lines up with that. Chowgirls and CRAVE Catering cook out of Northeast Minneapolis, Red Cow and Red Rabbit run North Loop restaurants, Amazing Thailand is in Uptown and Broders' is in Southwest Minneapolis. The other big daytime crowd is the University of Minnesota, with 56,666 students and 25,640 employees on the Twin Cities campus in fall 2024.

Six of the fifteen caterers publish real prices. Acapulco lists a build-your-own taco bar from $11.99 per person and box meals at $12 to $14. Red Cow and Red Rabbit boxed lunches run $15 to $24, The Deco Catering's box lunches are $14.95 to $20.95, Brasa's buffet meals are $16.25 to $21.25 per person, and Sawatdee's staffed Thai packages run $18.99 to $28.99 per person. Minimums vary a lot: Mintahoe wants $150 or a 10 person buffet, Amazing Thailand $200 for delivery, Surdyk's $100 for delivery and CRAVE 25 guests for lunch buffets.
