Office catering in Richmond: what to expect

Richmond's office demand is spread out more than most cities. Innsbrook is the biggest office submarket at about 6.1 million square feet, the CBD holds 5.5 million, and the metro was 11.1% vacant in mid 2026. The West End was the busiest, absorbing 183,052 square feet in one quarter, helped by Davenport & Company leasing 117,860 square feet there. Six Fortune 500 companies, including Dominion Energy, Altria and Markel, are based around the region, and VCU and VCU Health support more than 80,000 jobs. The caterers line up with that map. Garnish and A Sharper Palate work out of Henrico, Deep Run Roadhouse runs a catering kitchen on Gayton Road, Tarrant's sits downtown, and Homemades by Suzanne serves downtown offices from The John Marshall.

Only four of these caterers post food prices on their own sites. Garnish charges $11.95 per bag lunch plus tax and delivery if you order by noon the day before. Homemades by Suzanne lists boxed lunches from $11.95 to $16.95, Apple Spice runs $14.99 to $18.99 with a three lunch minimum, and Goodrich Gourmet's individual hot meals are $12.99 to $19.99 with a minimum of 10 per entrée. Everyone else quotes. King's Korner says outright that it does not post prices, and Morrissey's emails a proposal within 24 hours. If you want to order without a phone call, Apple Spice, Goodrich, Homemades, Deep Run Roadhouse, MOSAIC's Express menu and Mi Hacienda all take online orders. Mi Hacienda can have food ready for 10 people in as little as 2 hours.

A few Richmond specifics. Virginia exempts a delivery charge from sales tax when it is listed separately on the bill, but charges for serving, setup or cleanup are taxable. Fees vary a lot. A Sharper Palate charges $35 for weekday delivery between 9am and 5pm and $70 outside those hours, Morrissey's delivery starts at $25, and Apple Spice adds a 15% gratuity to box lunch orders as a delivery charge. Deep Run Roadhouse's staffed events carry a $1,500 minimum, a 20% equipment and admin fee and $45 per staff hour. Delivery ranges are wide. Goodrich goes up to 65 miles, Morrissey's runs from Fredericksburg to Emporia, and Apple Spice covers Henrico, Chesterfield and Hanover. King's Korner cooks on site from mobile kitchens.
