Kansas City's office demand is split across the state line, and the full buildings aren't always downtown. CBRE put metro vacancy at 17.1% in the second quarter of 2026, with the Plaza at 11.2% and Midtown at 11.5%, while Downtown was the emptiest submarket at 20.6%. Lockton has been headquartered on the Country Club Plaza for more than twenty years, and Hallmark, H&R Block, Garmin, Evergy and AMC all keep headquarters or major offices in the metro. Scratch Office Catering was built for this crowd and delivers from the River Market to the Plaza. Q39 runs catering out of Midtown, Chef Kansas City covers Downtown plus Overland Park and Leawood, and Jack Stack sends office lunches from an Overland Park kitchen to anywhere within 30 miles.
Five of these caterers publish real prices. Scratch Office Catering lists box lunches at $14.50 and hot entrees from $17 to $19 per person, with a $250 order minimum. Above & Beyond posts boxed lunches from $13 to $17 and hot lunch tiers at $13, $15 and $20. Q39 charges $20.95 to $24.95 per person for barbecue packages with delivery and setup included, Jack Stack lists a $20 per person Gathering Buffet and a $17 sandwich box lunch, and Cosentino's ordering site shows box lunches at $12 to $14. Brancato's sets its drop-off minimum by day, $300 Monday and Tuesday and $500 Wednesday through Friday. You can order online at Scratch, Q39, Jack Stack, Brancato's and Cosentino's. Most of the rest want a quote form or a phone call.
A few local details before you order. Lead times run from 24 hours at Q39 and Brancato's to 36 hours at Blue Pot and five business days for hot entrees at Scratch. Scratch also adds a 20% service fee to corporate orders and charges $23 to deliver box lunches within 5 miles. Jack Stack delivers free on orders over $400. Taxes work a little differently on each side of the state line. Missouri doesn't tax an optional, separately stated delivery fee, and Kansas has excluded separately stated delivery charges since July 2023, so ask for delivery on its own line. Local Seasons, Sugar and Spice, Slap's and Zarda all work by quote, and Local Seasons lists no drop-off menu. When a big show fills Bartle Hall, book early.
